Oppositional Defiant Disorder
It is characterized by the presence of markedly defiant,
disobedient, negative, hostile, provocative and disruptive behaviour; which is
clearly outside the normal range of behaviour for a child of the same age in
the same socio-cultural context.
The following features are often suggestive of the presence of
oppositional defiant disorder:
v The child often loses temper and often argues with adults
v The child often actively defies or refuses to comply with adult’s
requests or rules and often deliberately annoys people
v The child often blames others for his or her mistakes or
misbehaviour; is often easily annoyed with others; is often angry and
resentful.
v The child usually has a low frustration tolerance level and
generally exhibits excessive levels of rudeness, uncooperativeness and
resistance to authority.
